Mario Calderoni appointed spokesman of the PBO

With a resolution published today on its official website, the Board of the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO), acting on a proposal of the Chairman, appointed Mario Calderoni as PBO spokesman, a position recently inserted in the PBO’s rules. Calderoni will be responsible for promoting the external communication of the PBO’s activities and, as press officer, handling relations with the media.

With a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, Calderoni has been a professional journalist since 1983. He worked for the weeklies Mondo Economico and Panorama before joining the Rome office of Il Sole 24 Ore as a special correspondent, where he worked for seventeen years covering a wide range of issues: economic and monetary policy, legislation and Parliament, industrial policy and developments in the banking and financial system.

In 2003 he was hired as head of the Media Relations office of the Capitalia banking group. With the merger of that bank into UniCredit, he became head of the Media Relations Italy office of the new group.

In 2009, following a public competition, he was hired by the Communications Authority, where he worked until 2015 as head of the communication and media relations office, joining the Chairman’s office as counsellor for communication in 2014.
