Giampaolo Arachi is a member of the Board of the Parliamentary Budget Office. He is full professor of Public Finance at the University of Salento (currently on secondment). He received a degree in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford (UK) and a PhD in Public finance from the University of Pavia. Previously he was president of the Technical Commission for Standard Expenditure Needs, member of the scientific committee of the Parliamentary Budget Office, member of the Board of Management of the Italian Society of Public Economics, director of the Ph.D. programme in Economics and Mathematical-Statistical Sciences at the University of Salento, and tax expert at the Department of Finance of the Ministry for the Economy and Finance. His main research interests are related to fiscal federalism and the taxation of capital and business income. He has published on international refereed journals, such as International Tax and Public Finance, Regional Studies, Fiscal Studies, FinanzArchiv and National Tax Journal. He has edited and contributed to books published by national and international editors.
