The PBO participated in the initiative of the independent fiscal institutions (IFIs) of the EU Member States to enhance the effectiveness of their role in the economic governance arrangements of Europe. On 2 February, in two separate letters to the EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Pierre Moscovici, and to the Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee (EPC), Jens Granlund, the chairmen of the IFIs requested timely ex-ante access to the documentation produced by the European authorities in implementing the Stability and Growth Pact and greater involvement by the IFIs in developing the EU fiscal framework and in macroeconomic surveillance through formal representation of the IFIs on the EPC.
