18 October 2023 | The Chair of the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) spoke today before the Budget Committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, meeting in joint session as part of the examination of legislative proposals for the reform of EU governance.
The Chair of the PBO, after reviewing the Committees’ proposals, presented a series of medium-term scenarios prepared according to the methodology developed by the PBO and generally consistent with the approach outlined in the new governance proposals. These scenarios outline the evolution of the debt-to-GDP ratio and of key public finance variables, also in comparison with what would occur under current legislation.
Cavallari also illustrated the significant innovations introduced with the new framework, as well as the areas for possible further improvement.
